Banned Passwords On Twitter

In: Social Media

If you have an account on Twitter, you may have been told during the sign-up process that your password was “too obvious.”  Who would’ve thought that the password “secret” is obvious?

TechCrunch recently discovered that the obvious passwords are actually coded in to the site.  Here is a TXT file of all 370 banned passwords.  What’s crazy to me, is some of the passwords on the list!  If these passwords are on the list because they’ve actually been requested too many times on Twitter’s sign-up page, then what do these passwords say about people in general?  Here are a few handpicked ones from the list:

  • sexsex
  • twitter
  • shaved
  • password
  • panties
  • nipples
  • naughty
  • nascar
  • naked
  • killer
  • gandalf
  • erotic
  • butthead
  • beavis

This post was mentioned on Twitter by TheCommonHoster: Twitter’s list of “too common” passwords is a bit frightening…a lot of people with dirty passwords! http://bit.ly/8Ubfn0...

Yeah, I guess they’re trying to protect us from ourselves? Personally I would never think to enter “beavis” as a password if I was trying to break in to someone’s Twitter account!
