Tips and Advice For Your Web Site

26 Jan 2010If you’re an RSS “junkie” like I am, you’ve probably encountered this at least once (click here to learn about RSS). You find a website you would like to follow, but the site doesn’t have an RSS feed to subscribe to! If you use Google Reader, that is no longer an issue.
Google Reader is basically Google’s free RSS reader that you can use, and it now has a new “custom feeds” option that allows you to get a notification any time a website changes.

To use the Custom Feeds option, click on “add a subscription” and enter the URL of the page you want to subscribe to. You’ll then be notified that the site has no feed, but there will be an option to subscribe anyway. Personally, it’s shocking that some valuable sites don’t use RSS – but now you don’t have to be in the dark!
Starting a web site or trying to improve your online presence can be a daunting task for the casual computer user. Drawing from experience in the web hosting and ecommerce industry, The Common Hoster is your spot for technical resources, in an easy to understand format!
